Access to Work ADHD Coaching
Working with an ADHD brain in a busy workplace can feel unpredictable. Some days everything flows, and other days even simple tasks feel hard to begin. If you recognise this pattern, you are in the right place. This page is here to help you explore how ADHD shows up in your working life and how Access to Work coaching can support you.
ADHD affects far more than focus. It can influence planning, organisation, working memory, emotional regulation, communication, time awareness and the ability to start or complete tasks. These challenges often overlap with traits from Autism, Dyslexia or Dyspraxia, which is why many people feel their experiences do not fit neatly into one diagnostic category.
If you are still figuring out how ADHD affects your working life, that is completely okay. You do not need a perfect understanding of your neurotype for Access to Work coaching to be effective.
Through Access to Work coaching, we build practical, personalised strategies that support your executive function, reduce overwhelm and help you work with your natural strengths.
How ADHD Shows Up in a Working Life
ADHD does not pause when you start your workday. Focus challenges, working memory strain and emotional intensity often continue into evenings and weekends. When your workday requires constant switching, rapid responses or high levels of detail, evenings can become recovery time rather than rest.
ADHD can influence:
- task initiation
- time awareness and time blindness
- working memory
- organisation and sequencing
- emotional regulation
- communication clarity
- overwhelm in complex or ambiguous tasks
- difficulty switching between tasks
- burnout from masking or compensating
Many people with ADHD also experience sensory sensitivities, autistic traits or dyslexic processing differences. Coaching supports this blended profile.
The sections below are here to give you a sense of what we might explore. You do not need to relate to every point.
Collaborative Support for Managers and HR Teams
Many people feel anxious about workplace conversations, especially when communication differences, time pressures or executive function challenges are involved. Your Access to Work package can include liaison with your employer. This may involve adjustment recommendations, manager briefings or meeting support.
If you choose to involve your manager or HR representative, I can help translate your internal strategies into practical workplace accommodations. This collaborative approach reduces pressure and helps your employer understand your processing style so they can create an environment where you can thrive.
Focus Areas for Your Strategy Session
Planning and Prioritisation Creating systems that help you see what matters, what can wait and what needs breaking down into smaller steps.
Task Initiation and Momentum Developing approaches that help you start tasks without relying on pressure, panic or last‑minute adrenaline.
Working Memory Supports Building tools that help you track information, reduce cognitive load and stay oriented during complex projects.
Time Awareness and Structure Exploring ways to manage time blindness, create predictable rhythms and reduce last‑minute stress.
Communication and Self‑Advocacy Finding ways to explain your processing style and request adjustments with clarity and confidence.
Energy and Burnout Management Identifying patterns that lead to exhaustion and building sustainable working habits that support long‑term wellbeing.
What to Expect in Sessions
Sessions are calm, structured and collaborative. We begin by grounding the conversation in your current working life. You are welcome to bring specific challenges, ongoing patterns or general feelings of overwhelm.
We explore your processing style, workplace expectations and the situations that create pressure. Together, we identify practical strategies that support your role and build your internal toolkit. This may include planning systems, communication approaches, sensory adjustments or ways to manage energy and recovery time.
You set the pace. Some sessions focus on a single challenge, while others explore broader patterns. Everything is shaped around your lived experience and the realities of your working day.
If your Access to Work package includes employer liaison, we can also prepare for conversations with your manager or HR representative so you feel confident explaining your needs.
Providing Quotes for Your Access to Work Assessor
Access to Work assessors often ask applicants to provide three quotes from specialist coaching providers. I can prepare a clear, assessor‑aligned quote that includes recommended coaching hours, cost per session, HR liaison, workplace strategy coaching and executive function support.
You are free to choose whichever coach you prefer. Assessors request three quotes to understand the range of support available.
If your case worker has asked for a quote, I can prepare this for you immediately.
